If you have wondered what got me interested in discourse studies, there is a blog post describing the problem that started it all. It also provides some links to the projects that I have been working on this summer. I have spent the last two hours typing out a much longer narrative about how this problem turned into my doctoral program, but neglected to save it in the process and WordPress seems not to have auto-saved it.
