I am coming up on my one year anniversary of blogging, and trying to assess exactly who is reading the blog and why, generically speaking. Below is a poll that I hope will help figure this out. I know I have shifted from pretty introductory stuff to more intense stuff of late. It would be nice to know something about the background that most readers have, so if you would be so kind as to push a button and/or leave a comment, it would be greatly appreciated.
Why are you here?

I’m a PhD student taking an Adv. Grk. Grammar seminar. Most of my reading has to do with aspect and discourse analysis. I plan to write a paper on aspectual choice in Acts this semester, thus I am always interested in discussion you carry out here at your blog! Keep up the good work.
I read this because I am interested in DA after having taken a class on it under Fanning using Levinsohn. I enjoy the academics but am not currently employing it for ministry or otherwise.
It’s probably pretty obvious that I marked BOTH “crusty old professor” AND “none of the above applies to me.” But I think you know that I am trying better to understand Discourse Criticism and you’ve done more than anyone I know to make the arcana of this discipline accessible to “crusty old professors” who are trying to make sense of the gobbledygook.
Carl, just wanted you to feel like you had a place at the table.
part of me wanted to click “crusty old professor,” but I didn’t do it.
I’ve just discovered your work and appreciate it very much. I’m working at writing helps for national translators and looking for ways to help them understand discourse functions in clear and easy English. A challenge. Thanks.
I’ve had extensive training in Greek, but don’t really use it (or like it all that much …) I read your blog for the linguistics.
I recently discovered your site and absolutely love it! I have had undergrad and grad training in NT Greek, including DA, so your site is right up my alley as I continue to learn and advance my skills on my own. Additionally, I can’t wait for your Discourse Grammar to be available! The draft you supplied as a link is superb! Love the comparisons with Wallace.
Thanks million for what you are doing here!
