Fraser valley arctic outflow winds, is what I am told. It must be a media bias on the part of the weathermen.

How come people down south are always blaming Canada for their cold weather? I live in the Canadian Pacific NW and it was nowhere near -7C up here. Last night I was outside for about 10 minutes after dark and it wasn't too bad. Tonight I just got home from 1.5 hours outside distributing packages to the homeless and it was pretty good. I wore gloves but didn't need a hat. I think the air gets colder when it crosses the border and American customs asks it too many questions. ;-))))))
